Art Matters Announces the Gai Gherardi Fellowship

Art Matters is proud to announce the inaugural Gai Gherardi Fellowship. This award will recognize an artist working with a unique vision, in recognition of the visionary eyewear creator who loved a good pun and imbued grace and humor in everything she touched. 

Gai was endlessly committed to artists and their work. From staging group shows of emerging artists at l.a.Eyeworks; to commissioning displays and custom lens cloths from artists; to her decades of service at Art Matters, she was known for her immense creativity and generosity. 

The $10,000 award will be designated by a panel of artists and announced later this year. All contributions made in her name will go towards a fund specifically for the Gai Gherardi Fellowship, in perpetuity. 

We hope this opportunity for artists will be a way to cherish Gai’s memory and carry forward her wisdom for years to come.
